Last week I learned that the concert we have agreed to do mid June, warm up the room for a gospel choir, will be in a hall that can seat 1000 people. I am terrified. All the more since there is some fuzziness as to who will be able to play; for instance one member of the band is getting a tooth pulled two days before…
Crouzet-Migette
When we passed into France yesterday, the customs officer looked into the car and could see that it was filled with bizarre stuff like cymbals, drums and guitars. Anything to declare? Dave says: “No, not at all, we’re going to play a concert at the bistrot in Crouzet-Migette this evening”.
“You know where Crouzet-Migette is?” he asked…
Last Saturday at the Devils bridge Inn
Last Saturdays concert was so-so, not much of a public. Apparently two other nearby inns/restaurants had organized concerts for the same evening. I have no complaint, I got food and board, and some good hands on practice. At least the concert ended better than it had started, we had eaten a bit late and did the first part of the evening between the cheese course and desert. To say the first few songs where heavy, overeaten with too much wine would be an understatement.
next Saturday evening at the Devils Bridge Inn
Jet lag is a weird thing, never hits you the same way twice. I tried to beat it with daily walks in the sun and that seemed to work until yesterday when it hit me flat in the face. This was a bit of a nuisance as I had accepted to go practice with another band that Dave plays with. In order to join them in a concert next Saturday evening at the Auberge du Pont du Diable (Devil’s Bridge Inn). I faded in and out all through the afternoon, but amazingly enough, my hand seemed to know the songs better than my brain, so it all work out and response was good.
So if you happen anywhere near Crouzet-Migette in the Jura Mountains, come on over on March 31st: the concert starts at 9:30pm.
Washboard In The Corner
About two years ago my life was considerably changed by sheer chance: I was asked to replace the rhythm guitarist in a blues trio for a gig in a local bar. Having not touched my guitar in more years than I care to say and with only had two weeks to get ready it was a crazy idea. But my friends, bless them, were insistent and playing music with other people a life long dream so…
It was a disaster waiting to happen…
Blues for the X Mess
If you happen to be in the Swiss watch making city of La Chaux-de-Fond next week, beware because Messin’ Round will be playing at the P’tit Paris for the special Oyster Night event!
Washboard Interlude
Last night I joined my good friend and fantastic blues player Dave for a short concert at an outdoor picnic organized by a local institution for the handicapped. For me it was…
