Here’s a little sketch from last year. The train had stopped at a station (Aarau if I remember right), so I had a minute to draw this kid who was in a train going in the opposite direction. He was all up in green military dress and was sitting, knapsack on his knees, in the space in front of the doors instead of in the compartment with seats. He didn’t look too happy about going off and “serving” the country and it makes you wonder since there are now ways of avoiding it if you really want to…
Two Sketches From The Fenouillèdes
Last week Dave proposed that I join him for a weekend escapade over in France where he was invited to play for a friend’s birthday party. It was only the evening before leaving that I realized we were heading down to the Mediterranean, up in the hills above Perpignan, just above the Spanish border, an 8 hour drive…
From The Sketchbook
I was going through one of my sketchbooks and decided to stick this one up.
A year or so ago while visiting family T. took me for a ride on an old Honda that he had restored. I amused myself by imagining what we must of looked like…
The Return of the Serpent
Last night Bill and I went to the Café du Soleil in Saignelegier to listen to a concert by Linda Bsiri and Michel Godard. I did not know anything about these two musicians besides the fact that Godard would be playing a recently made copy of an ancient musical wind instrument; the Serpent.
Train Guy
When traveling by train I often sketch. Generally people aren’t my usual subject matter, mostly landscapes, but some days it’s fun to draw people you see.
One way to do it is to just glance at stuff as you go by and trust your memory, but this guy was hanging out, or waiting, at a station somewhere so I had 30 seconds at least.

A bit of Divisadero?

Just been going through my sketchbook, here’s a drawing done with my brush pen. It’s a detail of the view from where I was staying in San Francisco last month.
Not entirely sure, but I think it’s the steep bit of Divisadero St. near Buena Vista Park (as seen from a few block away).
In Limbo again
From where I live both main Swiss airports are at about equal distance so I usually leave from Zürich since in the past most flights went from Geneva to Zürich before going where the went anyway.
